To provide free, accessible, and compassionate education to children from slum and low-income communities To offer books, uniforms, meals, and emotional support that help students stay in school and feel valued To nurture children not just to become literate, but to become responsible, confident, and kind human beings To preserve and expand the legacy of Kanchan Bharadwaj, who believed that love and education could change lives To build a strong network of donors, volunteers, and partners who support this mission of change
To create a world where every child, regardless of their background, has access to quality education, dignity, and the opportunity to dream, grow, and thrive. We envision transforming our humble tin shed school into a model of inclusive, holistic, and empowering education for underprivileged communities.
Our journey began in 1992, not in a classroom—but under a tree.
Late Kanchan Bharadwaj, a compassionate and determined woman, saw a group of rag-picking children loitering aimlessly near her home. These children, burdened by poverty, had no access to education, no support, and no direction. She couldn’t look away.
So, with a chair, a table, and a heart full of purpose, she sat under that tree and began teaching five children. That simple act of love became the foundation of what we now proudly call our Tin Shed School.
Over the years, more children joined, and so did more supporters. Slowly, the classroom moved from beneath a tree to a tin-roofed shelter. Though the structure was modest, it echoed with the sounds of learning, laughter, and hope. Kanchan Bharadwaj poured her life into these children—calling them “her own”. For her, education was not charity—it was justice.
After her passing in 2011, her daughter took on the responsibility of continuing this legacy. What followed was a journey of resilience, challenges, and growth.
Today, our tin shed school is home to 181 students from Classes 1 to 8. These children receive:
- Free education
- Textbooks and stationery
- School uniforms
- Meals (as and when resources allow)
- A safe and loving space to dream
Our journey is not just about numbers—it’s about transforming lives. Each child who learns here carries the dream of a better tomorrow. Each milestone we reach is a tribute to the love and vision of our founder.
And we’re just getting started.
With your support, we aim to expand this journey—building classrooms, digital corners, libraries, and brighter futures for every child who walks through our gate.
For over three decades, our tin shed school has been a beacon of hope for children who were once forgotten by the education system. With love, dedication, and the support of generous individuals, we have transformed lives—one child, one book, one lesson at a time.
Here’s how we’re making a difference:
📚 100% Free Learning Support
Textbooks, notebooks, and stationery provided to every student
School uniforms to promote equality and dignity
Regular access to nutritious meals when resources allow
🏫 Education for First-Generation Learners
Most of our students are first in their families to attend school. We not only teach them how to read and write but help them believe in themselves.
đź’ˇ Community Awareness & Involvement
Through education, we’re also inspiring families to value schooling and break the cycle of poverty and child labor in the surrounding slum areas.
🧑 Volunteer & Donor Network
Our journey is powered by a growing circle of volunteers, individual donors, and well-wishers who believe in inclusive education and grassroots change.
đź’– Legacy That Lives On
Every smile, every classroom story, and every dream started with one woman and her belief in the power of education. We continue to honour Kanchan Bharadwaj’s legacy by shaping a brighter future every day.
đź’¬ What We Dream Next
- Permanent classrooms with proper facilities
- Digital learning access for all
- Health, nutrition, and life skills programs
- More children reached, more lives transformed
Impact is not just measured in numbers—it’s written on the faces of the children who now dare to dream.
