Education

🌱 1. The Tin Shed School Programme

"Education for Every Child, Right Where They Are"

Our flagship initiative, started under a tree in 1992, continues to provide free, inclusive education to children from marginalized and low-income communities. From Class 1 to 8, we offer a safe, supportive, and joyful learning environment — right under our humble tin roof.

📘 Includes: Free books, stationery, uniforms, and access to nutritious meals (as resources allow)

📚 2. After-School Support Programme

"No Child Left Behind"

Many of our students are first-generation learners who need extra academic support. This program runs in the afternoons and focuses on foundational subjects like math, reading, and writing.
It ensures that struggling students get individual attention, catch up with their peers, and rebuild their confidence—helping reduce dropout rates and boost learning outcomes.

🌱 Health and Wellness Camps

“Because learning begins with well-being.”

At Sewa Samarpan Kalyan Samiti, we believe that good health is the foundation of effective learning. Many of our students come from vulnerable backgrounds where access to even basic healthcare is limited. To address this, we regularly organize free health camps in collaboration with doctors, hospitals, and health-focused organizations. These camps offer:

✅ General health check-ups

✅ Eye & dental screenings

✅ Hygiene awareness sessions

✅ Nutrition & anemia screenings

✅ Distribution of basic medicines and sanitary kits

Through these initiatives, we not only care for the physical health of our children but also teach them the importance of cleanliness, self-care, and hygiene in daily life. We are grateful to the healthcare professionals and volunteers who make these camps possible. Their contributions bring lasting impact to the lives of our students and their families.

Counselling & Community Engagement

🌱 Tin Talks

“Strong minds build strong futures.”

Through monthly meetings, workshops, and home visits, we involve parents in their child’s education, building a supportive ecosystem. It encourages families to understand the value of education and create learning-friendly homes.

At Sewa Samarpan Kalyan Samiti, we recognize that education alone is not enough — emotional support, mental well-being, and family engagement are equally essential. That’s why we run a dedicated Counseling Program for our students, their parents, and the wider community.

💬 What We Do:

🧒 Student Counseling:

Helping children overcome fear, anxiety, behavioral issues, trauma, and learning difficulties.

👪 Parental Guidance:

Conducting sessions with parents to raise awareness on child development, education importance, and healthy parenting practices.

🏘 Community Outreach:

Facilitating dialogue and workshops on social issues, mental health, early marriage, substance abuse, and family conflicts. Our team includes trained social workers and mental health professionals who provide compassionate, confidential, and consistent support to help each child thrive emotionally and academically.

NOTE-We welcome trained counselors, psychology students, and mental health professionals to volunteer and contribute to this meaningful program.

Women Empowerment

🌱 Tin Empower

“Sew to Grow - Where learning turns into livelihood.”

At Sewa Samarpan Kalyan Samiti, we go beyond traditional education to equip youth and women from nearby slum communities with livelihood skills that help them build independent and dignified lives. Our Stitching Center provides:

🪡 Basic and advanced stitching training

🧵 Hands-on practice with sewing machines

👗 Simple garment creation & tailoring skills

📜 Skill certification for employability

💼 Support for starting home-based work or micro-enterprises

This initiative especially benefits young girls, school dropouts, and mothers of our students, giving them the tools to earn income, build confidence, and support their families.

We aim to expand this program into a full-fledged Skill Development Hub by adding training in embroidery, handicrafts, and digital skills in the future.

👉 You can support this initiative by donating sewing machines, fabric, or sponsoring trainer honorariums.

🌱 Tin Shala

“Bridging the digital divide for a brighter future.”

To prepare our students for today’s technology-driven world, The Tin Shed School runs two Computer Learning Centers that provide basic digital education and computer literacy to children from underserved communities. 💡 What We Offer:

✅ Basic computer operations (MS Office, typing, file handling)

✅ Introduction to internet and safe browsing

✅ Online learning tools and educational games

✅ Typing practice and digital worksheets

✅ Certificate upon completion of training

These centers help children build confidence in using technology, a skill that is essential for higher education and future employment opportunities. Our goal is to make every child digitally fluent, regardless of their background.

Note-"We welcome support in the form of old laptops, desktops, keyboards, or volunteers willing to teach digital skills to our students."
